Review of Silver City, New Mexico

unique, eclectic, yet the old west lives on here
Star Rating - 5/26/2008
we live in an area called sanctuary hts. about 15-20 minute drive to Silver City ; population about 11,000. Our neighborhood is comprised of folks who like quiet, some have horses, and deer, occasional elk, rabbits, squirrels, many species of birds abound. Gila Wilderness is behind our property and great access for hiking, riding, meditating, communing with beautiful, green vistas and quiet.
UP teh road apiece, 7 minutes maybe by car is Pinos Altos complete with an ice cream parlor/post office, curio shop, diner, free video rentals and books too; friendly folks run it and u cna catch up on what's happening and who to:) Our spread is a true sanctuary and could easily become home to multi generational family,or be a bed n breakfast which is needed up here. I'm an island girl and hubby is a lake guy from MIchigan and we feel drawn to go back to water roots. Silver has an interesting art community,a split between old fashioned, old west ways and more eclectic, open minded folks. We want to be closer to a major airport like Seattle and able to visist more family and friends and vice versa. Silver is a bit isolated. Small airport is here and one airline flys to Albuquerque daily. Clean air, beautiful dark skies, a lovely spot and it is our time as seniors to be moving along nad pray it is Sequim we'll be headed for. There is a 4 yr. college here, blues festivals, art shows, comunity concert series, rodeos, gun club, service organizations.
